We've written these pages in plain language so you can see exactly how Chat With Purpose works. They're shared for transparency and are not legal advice. We're a small team building in the open: this is a working draft that still needs review by a licensed attorney before public launch, so some wording may change.

This Privacy Policy explains how Chat With Purpose (chatwithpurpose.com) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. We aim to collect only what we need to run the product.

Information we collect

We collect the information you provide and generate when using the Service, including:

  • Account & auth data — if you sign in with Google, your email, display name, and avatar from your Google profile, plus authentication identifiers managed by Supabase Auth. You can also use the app as an anonymous guest, which creates a temporary session without requiring an email.
  • Chat content & uploads — the messages, prompts, and any images you upload so the AI can generate responses.
  • Subscription data — your plan tier and billing status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we do not collect or store your full card number.
  • Usage & log data — message counts, model usage, accrued impact, and technical logs and analytics used to operate limits, billing, and to keep the Service reliable and secure.

How AI providers process your chats

Your prompts and uploaded images are sent to third-party AI model providers, accessed through OpenRouter, solely to generate responses. Where the provider supports it, we set provider data-collection preferences to “deny” (no-training), so your content is used to produce your response and is not used to train their models. We cannot guarantee the practices of every provider, and their handling of data is governed by their own terms.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and improve the Service, generate AI responses, enforce usage limits, process subscriptions, calculate impact estimates, secure the Service and prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Where your data is stored

Account data, chats, and uploaded images are stored in Supabase (Postgres and Storage), hosted in the United States. Payment records are held by Stripe. We share information with these and other service providers strictly to operate the Service, and they process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Donations and impact data

Chat With Purpose turns your AI usage into charitable giving. Chat With Purpose (the company), not you, makes the donations, funded from its own revenue — so your use of the product is not a tax-deductible charitable contribution. Impact figures shown throughout the app are good-faith estimates based on average program costs and are not guarantees; actual amounts donated may vary by partner, campaign, fees, exchange rates, and timing. Donations are made in batched, periodic drops to vetted nonprofits — not in real time and not on a strict per-message basis. Estimated unit costs (e.g. cost per liter of water or meal) are illustrative averages drawn from public program data and do not represent a specific transaction. Any organizations named anywhere in the product are referenced for context only and are not partners, sponsors, or endorsers unless explicitly stated.

Aggregate, de-identified usage may be used to compute community impact totals shown in the app. Chat With Purpose, not you, makes the donations, so no payment information about you is shared with charities as part of the impact model.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Guest session data lives in your browser and is cleared when you clear your browser storage. You can delete your chats and your account from Settings; some records may be retained where required by law.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can manage and delete much of your data directly in Settings, including deleting your account. To make any other request, contact us at chatwithpurpose.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children

The Service is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users and data transfer

Chat With Purpose is operated from, and stores data in, the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and rely on established providers (Supabase, Stripe) for storage and payments. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
